About Amoxycare Capsule 250mg (Single Tablet)
Amoxycare is a broad spectrum semi-synthetic penicillin which is bactericidal against a wide range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacterial pathogens found in dogs including in the following circumstances:
localised infections
alimentary tract infections
respiratory infections
urogenital tract infections

Directions For Use
Directions for Use
The recommended dose is 10-20mg/kg twice daily for seven days. This dose may be increased and/or repeated more frequently at the Veterinary Surgeon's discretion. The dog may be dosed with the capsule or alternatively the capsules may be added to a little feed.

Each capsule contains 250mg Amoxicillin (as Amoxicillin Trihydrate).
Side Effects
Side effects of Amoxycare Capsule 250mg (Single Tablet)
For animal treatment only.
Keep out of the reach of children.
As with all penicillins the product may cause hypersensitivity (allergy) following ingestion.
Not to be used in animals with a known allergy to penicillin.
Do not treat dogs less than 10 kg bodyweight.
Not to be administered to small herbivores.
As with all other penicillins, bacterial resistance to amoxycillin may occur. Thus, antibiotic sensitivity testing should be considered if a clinical condition fails to respond to treatment within 5 days.
In common with many antibiotics, administration of amoxicillin may disturb the gut flora.

It reeally isn't a good idea for several reasons. Firstly, the doseage and formulation (i.e. the exact way that the drug is bound the the carrier, the digestibility of the tablet, and the dose per gram) will be different, and may result in an overdose or an underdose. Secondly, using a human drug where there is a licvensed veterinary alternative (which there is!) is a criminal offense, unless the prescribing veterinary surgeon has very, very good clinical reasons for prescribing it on the cascade. to my knowledge, there are no acceptable reasons for using a human generic amoxycillin instead of a licensed veterinary preparation.
I hope that makes sense - all in all, you;re much safer using licensed (legal!) products, where the manufacturers have actually tested them on dogs for side effects, than an off license human drug which hasn't been tested for safety.
