Q & A
- Q. Would this help my dog stop aggressive behaviour toward other dogs when on a walk? (I think his aggression stems from anxiety)
- A.
Hi,
The DAP collars are designed to reduce anxiety/stress, so if his aggression does stem from anxiety, the collar should help. However, there are a few things to bear in mind:
- The collar works by releasing the pheromone into the air around your dog's head. If he's running around a lot or going through undergrowth, although it will work, it may be less effective than if he was sitting still.
- Some canine aggression cases are not related to anxiety, or at least anxiety is only one of several causes. If this was to be the case, the DAP collar probably wouldn't work. If so, I would advise you to discuss the matter with your vet, and see if he/she can recommend a dog behaviourist.
That said, I hope it work for him!
Hope this helps,
David Harris BVSc MRCVS - Q. Would this be safe to use for a dog suffering from fitting and taking epiphen twice daily.
- A.
There isn't a problem with giving DAP and Epiphen at the same time, as they act quite differently. I wouldn't expect DAP to worsen a dog's fits - if anything, I'd expect it to make them less frequent!
All in all, I wouldn't have a problem with using them together, especially if the seizures are precipitated by stress.
Hope this helps,
David Harris (BVSc MRCVS)
